AI Sharpton with AI B. Sure! calls on Biden Administration to reverse Medicare cutbacks. Rev. Al Sharpton, along with singer Al B. Sure! and the controversial former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, have formed an alliance to urge the Biden administration to reconsider the Medicare cutbacks.

According to reports, Al B. Sure! and Sharpton have recently introduced the Health Equity in Transplantation Coalition (HETC) in order to advocate against the reduction in coverage for blood tests that are crucial in identifying early indications of organ rejection in organ transplant patients.

The outlet also highlights that

Al B, executive chairman of HETC, emphasized that the transplantation community is a place where prejudice does not exist, as it is composed of individuals affected by various diseases such as liver disease, heart disease, and kidney disease. He made it clear that the community is not intertwined with politics.

Al B stated that it is crucial to overturn this decision and expressed confidence in Joe Biden’s ability to do so. He requested unity from everyone and emphasized the need to concentrate on active listening.

The musician went on to say, “In my opinion, Medicare began covering these blood tests in 2017 and confirmed it in 2021, but then they abruptly revoked the coverage within a few weeks. They absolutely should reinstate it.”

Al B! chimed in, expressing their concern, “It’s really not right for a private company to have the power to make a decision like that, which has such a profound impact on countless lives.”

Sharpton and Al B Sure! have both expressed gratitude for Newt Gingrich’s support in reinstating Medicare coverage for surveillance blood tests, ensuring that they are not associated with potential biopsies.

Gingrich, who served as the 50th speaker of the House from 1995 to 1998, highlighted the personal experiences he had witnessed where this decision significantly affected individuals who had undergone transplants.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Gingrich shared that he has both a brother and a sister who have undergone lung transplants.

He also mentioned that his sister-in-law has had a liver transplant. Gingrich emphasized the significance of ongoing monitoring in these cases based on his personal experiences. He expressed gratitude that all three individuals are currently doing well.

Furthermore, Gingrich highlighted the importance of early problem detection through constant monitoring, not only for the patient’s well-being but also for cost efficiency, as it avoids the need for significant interventions when things deteriorate.

Sharpton expressed that the non-invasive tests provided a crucial lifeline for Black, Hispanic, Latino, and underserved communities.

Unfortunately, this life-saving measure was discontinued in March 2023 by a private company. These communities, from which the majority of transplant recipients hail, were greatly affected by this decision.

Sharpton emphasized the necessity of overturning this choice and ensuring transplant recipients have access to a wider array of advanced tools and resources, rather than restricting their options.
