South Dakota Governor Invites Deion Sanders and Colorado Football Team to Mount Rushmore After Geographical Mix-Up. Sanders stated, “I thought it was in L.A. all this time. Wow. My geography. That’s the Hollywood thing? That’s what I thought. I’m sorry. Thank you for educating me.”

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem saw an opportunity to showcase her state’s hospitality and extended a warm invitation to Sanders and the entire Colorado football team to visit Mount Rushmore. Taking to social media, Governor Noem posted on Twitter, “If @DeionSanders needs to see Mount Rushmore, we’d love to show him. Bring the whole @CUBuffsFootball team — we have buffalo herds of our own just a short way away! Bring Ralphie, he’ll love Custer State Park.”

The light-hearted invitation is a testament to South Dakota’s welcoming spirit, inviting Sanders and his team to experience the historic landmark and the natural beauty the state has to offer.

Colorado may not be bowl-eligible in Sanders’ first season as head coach. However, the Buffaloes can win their fifth victory versus Utah in the final regular season game. Despite seven losses in their last eight games, Sanders’ impact on the club and program is significant.

Sanders, who previously coached at Jackson State, made the move to Colorado in December 2022. His coaching career has seen success, playing in back-to-back SWAC title games for Jackson State, a historically black university.

As the season concludes, Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have the chance to regroup, and perhaps, enjoy a memorable visit to Mount Rushmore, thanks to Governor Noem’s friendly invitation.

Deion Sanders’ unintentional mix-up about Mount Rushmore’s location provided a light-hearted moment, emphasizing the camaraderie in sports. Governor Kristi Noem’s invitation not only showcases South Dakota’s pride in its landmarks but also adds a touch of warmth to the collegiate sports narrative.

As the Buffaloes wrap up their season, a visit to Mount Rushmore could offer a unique bonding experience for the team and further highlight the goodwill in the world of college football.
