Anchor Robin Roberts celebrates her birthday with partner Amber Laign as she turns 63. Robin On Thursday, the host of “Good Morning America” celebrated her first birthday as a married woman.

On Thursday, the anchor of Good Morning America marked her 63rd birthday by posting a series of images on her Instagram Story.
Anchor Robin Roberts celebrates her birthday with partner Amber Laign as she turns 63. Roberts shared a picture of a cupcake with a solitary candle inside and a bunch of flowers just behind it in the first post. She added, “Happy for another journey around the sun,” next to the picture.
Roberts was shown in a second photo sporting a pair of bejeweled white shoes, which she revealed to be a wedding present from Gayle King.
She wrote, “… first trip around the sun as a married woman,” as the caption for the image, which included a similar bedazzled shoe that seemed to be Amber Laign, her wife.
Roberts and Laign, 47, were together for 18 years before getting married back in September.
The newlyweds were feted at a romantic reception held at Farmington Gardens in Farmington, Connecticut, attended by approximately 250 guests, including George Stephanopoulos, Tory Johnson, Michael Strahan, Gio Benetiz, Lara Spencer, Michael Strahan, and Dr. Jen Ashton, Roberts’ media colleagues.
Roberts posted two pictures of herself and Laign holding hands on their wedding day on Instagram a few days after the event. The journalist described the event as “magical” in her caption.
“A joyful reception and an intimate, enchanted wedding ceremony in our backyard…ohh the dancing!” As Roberts put it. “Thank you so much to everyone who helped make it a day and night to remember. We’re going on a honeymoon!
When Roberts celebrated her recovery from a life-saving bone marrow transplant she had to undergo to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood condition she was diagnosed with in 2007, she first disclosed her connection with Laign in a year-end Facebook post in 2013.
Roberts expressed her gratitude to her medical team, family, friends, and sister Sally-Ann, who also acted as her donor, in a letter that was sent with a picture of herself and her puppy. Then, expressing her gratitude to her “longtime girlfriend Amber,” she made her first public admission of Laign’s sexual orientation.
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014, Roberts said that she and Laign had first gone on a blind date in July 2005.
Earlier this year, Roberts and Laign discussed their relationship with the media. They recalled becoming engaged over dinner at a restaurant and exchanging calamari rings on one other’s fingers.
“Now looking back, it was pretty fitting for us to not have a down-on-one-knee [proposal] and one person doing it and who was going to propose,” Roberts said. All of us did was hang around in our little Mexican place in the wall, putting calamari rings on each other and yelling, ‘Let’s go.'” “Let’s get started.”
