Atlanta-born rapper Playboi Carti has been arrested on Tuesday morning for allegedly choking his girlfriend in an incident that happened in December 2022. She was pregnant at the time, TMZ has reported.

According to the report, Playboi Carti and his girlfriend, who was 14 weeks pregnant at the time, had an argument in December over a paternity test, which allegedly led to Carti assaulting and choking his girlfriend.
Playboi Carti (real name Jordan Terrell Carter) has been booked for multiple charges, including aggravated assault, and hindering a person making an emergency telephone call, the official record has revealed.
As per the arrest affidavit, the victim, whose real name has not been revealed yet, said she came over to Carter’s house to discuss the paternity test and after an argument between the two, she was violently attacked, grabbed by her throat and dragged to the bushes outside the house.
However, the rapper has denied the allegation. His lawyer, Brian Steel, has informed Pitchfork in an email, “Mr. Carter was falsely accused. Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
Carter has been released on a $100,000 bail bond.
Iggy Azalea, Carti’s ex-girlfriend reacted to the news of the arrest on twitter saying, “Been there. Done that. Warned you”. Azalea tweeted again, “Imagine having a pregnant girlfriend and pretending they don’t exist until it comes out you like to abuse them too.”
