Shaquille O’Neal Sends A Warning To Kanye West Over Super Bowl Encounter

Shaquille O'Neal Sends A Warning To Kanye West

Shaquille O’Neal apparently called out Kanye West, with the NBA great admonishing the controversial musician and detailing their apparent contact during the Super Bowl.

In an Instagram post on Monday (February 12), Ye praised Dov Charney, the founder of American Apparel who was ousted from the firm in 2014 due to sexual misconduct claims, for looking after him while everyone else seemed to forsake him.

Charney, who was appointed in 2023 as CEO of the Yeezy apparel line, was hailed by West for his achievements.

“Dov Charney is my brother and my wife’s business partner. When Jamie Salter and everyone else refused to take my calls, he let me sleep at his factory. “Dov Charney, Jonah Hill, and Jon Rafman Are Three People Who Inspired My Apology,” he wrote in the original caption, alluding to his December 2023 apology to “the Jewish community.”

West has subsequently updated the caption to say, “Never Turn Your Back On People Who Were There For You When Everyone Else Had Their Backs Turned.”

That post caused Shaq to purportedly mock Ye in the post’s comments section. Shaq seems to have written, “Who cares, stop bitchin’ and snitchin’.” I know you saw me during the Super Bowl, and I was waiting for you to say something wise. Man up. Nobody wants to watch you weep, little kid.

Ye and Shaq have not always had the greatest of connections.

Kanye West posted about Shaquille O’Neal on Twitter (now known as X) in November, but he was soon dunked on by the four-time NBA champion.

Ye defended Kyrie Irving after Shaq labelled the Brooklyn Nets player a “idiot” for posting an anti-Semitic documentary on social media.

Kanye responded by calling out Shaq for doing business with Jewish millionaire Jamie Salter. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is the second-largest individual stakeholder in Salter’s Authentic Brands Group, which includes Forever 21, Barneys New York, JCPenney, and Reebok.

“They make us bully ourselves because of our business alignments,” Kanye said on his Twitter account. “Shaq is doing business with Jamie Salter. Jaimie originally said that he is 50/50 with David Beckham and Shaq. I said, “Jamie…” There is no such thing as 50/50 in business. “Who has the extra 1% for control and voting rights?”

Ye said, “Jamie then stated that he had a 51 percent stake in each of those transactions. We, the creators and talent, become so caught up in our ego that we fail to read or comprehend the tiny print. As Dave Chapelle said, “We need to stop giving up control over our own names and likeness.
