At a playground in Detroit, a horrific event allegedly involved a 12-year-old girl throwing acid on an 11-year-old girl, leaving her with serious burns.
Officials claimed that the accused juvenile showed up in court on Tuesday to answer assault charges related to the brutal assault.
The horrific attack occurred on July 9, and the victim, Deaira Summers, had second-degree burns to her back, legs, and arms.
Deaira was at the playground playing with her relatives and brothers when she became involved in a fight between the 12-year-old attacker and a member of Deaira’s family, according to her mother, Dominique Summers.
Deaira’s mother voiced her astonishment and grief following the event, saying, “I feel like it was the most evil thing you could do to a kid and especially given the fact that she was an innocent bystander.”
“I hope she gets what she deserves, and they all get what they deserve,” said little Deaira, expressing her desire for justice and her wish for everyone involved to be held accountable for their acts.
Since the incident, Deaira and her mother’s lives have undergone a significant transformation.
It takes maybe two hours to get ready now when it used to take 20 minutes, Dominique remarked.
Simple daily activities have become difficult undertakings. She needs to take her medicine 30 minutes prior to taking a bath.
The 12-year-old suspect’s bond was set at $10,000 during a preliminary hearing over the weekend, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Currently, the defendant is charged with felony assault and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily injury.
