Singer and actress Teyana Taylor reportedly filed for divorce from Iman Shumpert. She accused Iman Shumpert for infidelity and abuse both mentally and physically. TMZ obtained divorce documents on November 23. Taylor called their relationship “irretrievably broken.”
Taylor publicly gave a statement on Instagram that “infidelity” is not the root cause of their separation. But the divorce filing suggests totally different picture. The legal papers, filed secretly in Georgia in January, reportedly accuse Shumpert of being involved in multiple cheating scandals and subjecting Taylor to emotional and mental distress.

One startling claim in the court documents is Shumpert’s alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident involving Taylor’s Rolls Royce to evade a DUI arrest. Taylor also cited Shumpert’s previous DUI arrest and a 2022 arrest for weed possession in an airport.
According to Taylor, Shumpert displayed insecurities about her fame and success, becoming agitated at public events where photographers focused on her. She also mentioned that Shumpert discouraged her from working, leading her to intentionally dim her light for the sake of their marriage.
In a surprising twist, Taylor’s legal documents contradicted her public statements, alleging that Shumpert sent condescending and manipulative text messages about her stardom. She claimed to have turned down various career opportunities at his behest but faced criticism when she stopped working to focus on their family.
As the divorce proceedings unfold, Taylor is seeking primary physical custody, joint legal custody, and child support for their two daughters. Shumpert left their family home in October, and Taylor claims he has spent minimal time with their children since then.
