Snoop Dogg appreciates world ‘praying’ for his daughter after severe stroke. Snoop Dogg thanked people for praying for his 24-year-old daughter, who is recovering from a major stroke while attending the global premiere of his new film The Underdoggs.

Legions of admirers queued for hours to see the California-born rapper and actor at the Culver Theatre in Los Angeles, where he snapped selfies, much to their joy.

The debut of the comic sports film comes just days after his daughter Cori Broadus, whom he shares with his wife Shante, had a health concern with her over 650,000 Instagram followers.

Thank y’all for praying for her; I appreciate it,” he told the PA news agency on the purple carpet.

The remark occurred after Snoop Dogg, whose full name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, said that his new picture is about “family, love, and community.”

He plays Jaycen “Two J’s” Jennings, an ex-professional American football player who has reached rock bottom and is sentenced to community service for coaching the Underdoggs, an unruly children’s team in his hometown of Long Beach, California.

“The inspiration was my youth football league,” he told the Press Association.

“I created a youth football league in 2005, and this movie is an inspirational piece from that. Kids from my league who played inspired me to create this beautiful story; you get a beautiful ensemble of characters to come out and play.”

Snoop, who also acts as the film’s producer, spoke out about his relationship with co-star Tika Sumpter years after the two appeared in the US drama One Life To Live together.

He told PA: “It was beautiful because she played a character similar to my wife (in The Underdoggs), a love interest that can always keep me in control, but it was a lost love from too many years ago, so the fact that we’ve been friends that long (in real life) makes it more believable when we were on set.”

Sumpter praised Snoop as “hilarious, makes me laugh all the time, giving, and very kind.”

“(He) has been kind since I met him years ago…it was like family,” the 43-year-old told PA.

She said about her film character Cherise, “It all starts with the script, and I thought Cherise was fantastic.” “I love it, boss lady, give it to me. “She’s just this quiet force, and you don’t reckon with her, but she’s the sweetest human being, so I’m balancing being vulnerable but also not messing with her, and she’s the only one who can put Snoop or ‘Two J’s’ in his place.”

Snoop subsequently lauded director Charles Stone for doing an “amazing job” of finding the mix of humor and “keeping it all together.”

Stone told PA, “It was my first time working with Snoop; we had known each other before, but he was fantastic. Although he may not be considered an actor, he was a terrific performer who was fully there and ready for direction. He also strongly understood the role, which we discussed extensively. He was also amazing at drawing on his life experiences as a celebrity and knowing many of these great superstar sportsmen, which was fantastic. And he was great with the kids, just very present, and he is like a huge child himself.”

The director subsequently quipped that “cussing children” attracted him to the film but that the children are the “transformative element” of the film.

Composer Joseph Shirley, who previously wrote themes for Creed III and The Mandalorian, admitted to feeling pressure given Snoop’s musical history.

“There were instances when we offered a wink or a tip of the hat to his sound as the king of the West Coast; he and Dr. Dre created a sound together, which added a lot to the tone of this soundtrack. We wanted to pay tribute to them.

Snoop subsequently replied, “I love it.” To inspire others is a wonderful thing.”

The event also included Kal Penn, who portrays Ryan Kauffman in the film, American football tight end Tony Gonzalez, who plays himself in the film, and Kandi Burruss as Judge Tara.

The Underdoggs is slated to be released on Prime Video on January 26.
