Record company executive, Daman Anthony Dash, (“Dame Dash”) 52— best known for co-founding hip-hop record company Roc-A-Fella, along with rapper Jay-Z and Kareem Burke —has won a sexual assault lawsuit against photographer Monique Bunn.
In the lawsuit, which would have cost Dame Dash millions of dollars, Miss Bunn stated that she was hired for a video project and was staying at Dash’s house for the night when a drunk Dash came into her room and imposed himself upon her without consent, touching her and groping her inappropriately.
While the jury, after a four-day trial, found Dame Dash not guilty of sexual assault, it awarded Miss Dunn defamation charges rounding up to $30,000, Billboard has confirmed. Dame Dash had accused Dunn of stealing from him and charging thousands of dollars to a credit card without his permission.
Both Dame Dash and Dunn have claimed victory.
In a statement to AllHipHop, the photographer said, “I am thankful to the jury for the result on my defamation claim. It has been 4 years to get to this point and I am pleased I can move forward. Now the world knows that Damon Dash and Raquel Horn made false statements that I tried to rob them. The jury awarded actual and punitive damages and I am appreciative to thejury for the award.”
Dame Dash issued a short statement on Instagram following the verdict, “enough said…justice prevails.”
