Lizzo wins “Record of the Year” at the Grammys for “About Damn Time”

Lizzo, 34, beat Kendrick Lamar, Harry Style, ABBA, Dojja Cat, Adele and her idol Beyonce to take home the coveted “Record of the Year” award at Grammys 2023. Lizzo was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Special” and Best Pop Solo Performance for “About Damn Time.”

Lizzo’s Grammys Acceptance Speech

Lizzo won the Record of the Year Award for her single “About Damn Time.” She had also had a good year at the Grammys in 2020 when she bagged the Best Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts,” the Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary Album awards.

The singer is set to take off on a massive tour later this month to promote her new album “Special.”

Com arena in Los Angeles, Lizzo gave a shout out to Beyonce in her speech. “In the fifth grade I skipped school to see you perform. My sister, she got me out of school. It was literature. I’m good, “ Lizzo joked.
