Kim Burrell Was Called “Arrogant” for Firing Off on Churchgoer Disrupting Her Solo So That God Could Use Her

Kim Burrell Called Arrogant for Firing Off

Kim Burrell has responded to critics who said she was “entitled” and “arrogant” for rejecting a woman’s request to join her in a moment of worship.

A video that started spreading on X showed the gospel singer amid a sermon at church, her congregation raising their hands while she sang, “Thank you.”

It begins innocently enough, but within seconds, she remarks, “It’s a solo.” God is using me. “Do not sing with me right now.”

Burrell’s effort to continue her praise was halted to exclaim, “I’m singing along now.” Whoever she was speaking to seemed to miss the point. “Ma’am, with that mask…” Make that mask work for you. I am singing alone. I will call you when I am ready.

Along with being labeled a “menace” for calling out the churchgoer, Burrell received a slew of negative feedback on the video.

“I don’t like her, but you won’t sing over me either. She is ruthless. But many of our religious heroes are like that; they don’t get captured in 4k as often as she does,” tweeted a critic.

“Why are people still allowing her to sing or speak in church? “She spews too much hate,” said a second user on X. A third person wrote, “Yolanda Adams would never.” The Houston-based musician sought to correct the record with a video reaction to the uproar.

She stated, “I’m imagining I’m in a solo, and you always have that one who needs to join you. “And I heard her, y’all, and she was singing, and I was just going for it … ’cause I’m operating and things of the spirit — sometimes when I operate publicly, everyone doesn’t understand the dispensation of what I do.”

Instead, the composer claimed people regard her as a vocalist and not a spiritual vessel of various disciplines. “I am the preacher.” I have the talent of prophecy. “I keep hearing her.” Burrell then stated that a parishioner sat in front of the lady who was “disconnected” from the lecture and tried to indicate that the interrupter had a message to impart.

She said, “If you go further into the video, I pulled her up, and then she went dancing.” We had a great experience.” The gospel figure has been involved in several controversies. In 2023, she was chastised after admitting that Jay-Z phoned her to tell her that her music had boosted Beyoncé’s emotions after she supposedly shut herself in a room for 11 hours with just Burell’s music playing.

The preacher was heavily criticized the previous year for referring to individuals as “broke” and “ugly” during a lecture at Kingdom City Church. In the past, she has attracted criticism for making harsh statements against the LGBT community.
