During an emotional award acceptance speech at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles on Monday, Foxx, 55, told out about his health concern.

Jamie Foxx emerged back into the public eye this week, making a heartfelt comeback after being unwell since April. “I’d want to thank everyone. I’ve gone through a lot. “I’ve been through a lot,” Foxx stated as he won the Vanguard Award for his role in The Burial. “It’s crazy; six months ago, I couldn’t do that.” I couldn’t even walk….,” he said, his eyes welling up with tears.

“It feels good to be here,” Foxx added, expressing gratitude for life. Now I treasure every single moment. It’s distinct. It’s unique.”

“I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s difficult when you’re almost there…” “When you see the tunnel, you know it’s almost over,” he said.

“I noticed the tunnel. “I didn’t see the light!” he laughed later. “I didn’t know where I was going because it was hot in that tunnel.” S—, am I moving in the correct direction? “I heard the devil say, ‘C’mon, now.'”

In another lighter moment, Foxx told the crowd that, contrary to prior reports, he was not a clone.

“I know a lot of folks out there who were thinking I was cloned. “You ain’t s—, y’all,” he joked.

“Black people, when we almost die or go through something like that, there’s two phrases, one of two phrases we say,” Foxx went on to remark. “‘Lord, have compassion, Jesus,’ says one. “Lord, have mercy on me, Jesus.”

“My sister and my daughter were so great at not letting anybody know anything that happened,” he said of his family’s support before thanking famous pals in the crowd, including Lenny Kravitz, Fantasia, and Taraji P Henson, and stating, “you need somebody like that in your corner.”

Foxx concluded his remarks by saying, “I want to say six months ago I couldn’t fathom that this could happen or that I would be here, but as I walk up here to this microphone and receive this Vanguard Award, all I can say is ‘Lord, have mercy, Jesus.'”
