The accused are minors, according to police, although their ages have not been revealed. They said that search warrants had been executed and that additional information would be supplied as the investigation progressed.
The agency commended those who provided leads to its tip line for assisting them in solving the case.
Following the Buffaloes’ Rose Bowl defeat to the UCLA Bruins last Saturday, some players claimed that personal jewelry left in their locker room had vanished.
Deion Sanders Jr.’s Well Off Media shared a video of Colorado players discussing the incident outside the locker room after the game.
According to Pasadena Police, the theft included many pieces of jewelry as well as other personal and football goods. They said that the monetary worth of the loss had not been calculated.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has called on the Rose Bowl stadium to pay his players for stolen belongings and suggested the NCAA take action. He said that athletes and staff had reported missing jewelry and cash.
After returning to Boulder, the Buffs (4-4) will play No. 19 Oregon State (6-2) in a homecoming game on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
“Search warrants were executed, and additional information will be provided soon as the investigation progresses,” the police department stated in a statement.
According to investigators, many of the stolen things have been returned to the Colorado players, while others remain missing. Police continue to conduct interviews, check footage, and determine what things were reported missing.
“The Pasadena Police Department would like to thank those who reported leads to our tip line,” the department stated in a statement.
“The information and support are invaluable and play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our community.” Our investigators worked hard to follow up on all leads, which resulted in the fast execution of search warrants.”
This is at least the second time in Sanders’ three-year head coaching stint that he has dealt with in-game locker room thievery. Someone tried to take Sanders’ wallet and phone from his office during his first season at Jackson State in 2021.
