Officer Smidt pursued the criminals at 94 mph as they eluded capture. The chase ended when the Durango became stuck in mud near railroad tracks. Rayvontay Hutchins, an inhabitant, was arrested by a K9 unit for disobeying officials.

The arrested Tashyla Ellis, Margie Taylor, and Jamar Humphrey admitted to traveling from Chicago to Waukesha to steal retail. Humphrey admitted to stealing street-sold medication, joining a run of Meijer store thefts linked to the group.

Two counts of obstructing an officer have been filed against Hutchins. Taylor and Humphrey are charged with felony retail theft, while Ellis is accused with attempting to evade or avoid an officer and possessing THC.
