André 3000 Reveals Why He Did not Participate In Hip-Hop 50. The beloved rapper recently dropped a new body of work, New Blue Sun, and hinted at a new rap album.

In case you’ve been living under a rock this year, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. While the many parties included rappers ranging from Will Smith to Jeezy and everyone in between, one face was noticeably absent: André 3000.

Whether deliberate or not, the exclusion has been a regular omission throughout the year’s celebrations, raising the issue of why we haven’t seen the “New Blue Sun” musicians at any of those events.  André addressed why he didn’t participate in any of those events in a recent interview with the media program, adding that he didn’t have the “urge” or “desire” to attend.

We were just kids, seeing how far we could push things.”

André replied that even though the inspiration for a full-fledged rap album has not yet struck him, he writes down “ideas and lyrics” all the time. This was said later in the interview when he discussed his latest album, “New Blue Sun,” which is 87 minutes long and has “no bars, no beats” and pure flutes.

It’s possible that I haven’t yet discovered music that motivates me to desire to compose raps to this point. Alternatively, it’s possible that I need to discover a new method of rap. “It doesn’t matter to me if I don’t feel like I’m doing something,” he remarked to Anthony Mason, a media member.

Later on, when asked to explain what he meant by “doing something,” the artist who created “Hey Ya” said, “Affecting something, moving something, saying some truth, revealing something, and destroying something.” The next thing he said was, “It has to move a needle.” It was through exploration that we gained our strength.

I have high hopes that more people will really give his most recent musical offering a try, regardless of whether he will finally discover the inspiration he requires. Even though it may surprise, André’s body of work is nonetheless rather impressive and demonstrates his extraordinary skill.
