Sexyy Red’s new beauty brand ridiculed for NSFW product names

Sexyy Red, the 26-year-old rapper known for her bold personality and unapologetic lyrics, is making waves beyond the music industry with the launch of her new beauty brand, Northside Princess. On August 19, she took to Instagram to announce this exciting new venture, signaling her intentions to become a force in the beauty world. The brand’s first product, a line of lip glosses aptly named “Sexyy Gloss,” is already turning heads with its provocative names and bold colors.

“BO$$ LADY SPEAKIN …. New and improved @sexyyred_products is back better den eva!! Introducing NORTHSIDE PRINCESS the brand @getnorthside,” she proudly wrote on Instagram, showcasing her confidence and excitement about the launch. Sexyy Red’s journey from a rapper to an emerging beauty mogul is a testament to her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Northside Princess brand, a nod to her roots and the persona she’s cultivated, is not your average beauty line. It reflects Sexyy Red’s distinctive style, characterized by her audacity and willingness to push boundaries. The “Sexyy Gloss” line, the first product to drop under this new brand, includes eight lip gloss shades with names that are anything but conventional. These shades are provocatively titled: Coochie Juice, Bootyhole Brown, Nut, P*ssyhole Pink, Yellow Discharge, Gonorrhea, Blue Ballz, and Sex On My Period.

Each shade in the Sexyy Gloss collection is designed to make a statement, much like the rapper herself. The Bootyhole Brown gloss, in particular, is a playful nod to her infamous lyric, “My coochie pink, my bootyhole brown,” from the hit song “Pound Town.” This track, which she released with producer Tay Keith in 2023, became a viral sensation, earning Sexyy Red and Tay Keith their first entries on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of “Pound Town” was further amplified when Nicki Minaj jumped on the remix, “Pound Town 2,” propelling the song into the top 20 of both the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay charts.

Sexyy Red’s lip gloss line has been in the works for over a year, and she has been dropping hints about it during interviews. In a conversation with Complex, she teased some of the lip gloss names that would eventually be part of the Northside Princess brand.

“The names for my lip gloss are something that nobody would’ve ever thought of. I got one called ‘Nut,’ and it’s the color of some nut. I got one called ‘Gonorrhea,’ it’s green like gonorrhea. I got one called ‘Yellow Discharge,’ like how girls be having yellow discharge.”

she shared.Sexyy Red’s unique approach to branding her lip glosses highlights her out-of-the-box thinking and her refusal to conform to traditional norms. She’s unapologetically herself, and her products reflect that same boldness. “I be thinking all out the box sh–. It’s not even on purpose, it’s just my brain helping me think outside the box to do some crazy a– sh–,” she explained, capturing the essence of her creative process.

As Sexyy Red embarks on this new chapter in her career, it’s clear that she’s not just aiming to be another name in the beauty industry—she’s striving to redefine it. Her Northside Princess brand and its inaugural product, Sexyy Gloss, are just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey. With her fearless attitude and innovative mindset, Sexyy Red is set to leave a lasting mark on the beauty world, much like she has in the music industry. Whether you love her or are shocked by her, there’s no denying that Sexyy Red is a true original, unafraid to break the mold and make her mark.
