Black Twitter Is Disappointed In Comedian Ziwe For Hosting Disgraced Politician George Santos, Who Says He’ll Never Leave As Long As Creators Invite Him

Even though George Santos is no longer a member of Congress, the disgraced “elected public servant” is still widely discussed in the press. More than two-thirds of legislators voted the 35-year-old off Capitol Hill in November, leading to his expulsion from the House.

Before problems around his alleged misuse of fundraising cash and inconsistencies on his resume proved to be too great an obstacle to his continuing as an active member of Congress, he represented New York’s 3rd District for less than a year.

Santos engaged in a nearly 20-minute interview with comedian Ziwe, capitalizing on the media’s obsession with his ostensibly unperturbed calm, which incited even more criticism.

The candid conversation revealed Santos’s admiration for Nicki Minaj, his conviction that all members of Congress are “frauds,” and the fact that, despite having a picture of Rosa Parks hanging in his workspace, he knows very little about Black civil rights fighters, including James Baldwin, about whom he knew nothing at all. In addition, the controversial person bemoaned the possibility that he may “make a Black kid on my own…” I’m mixed-race.

As someone who commented on TikTok noted, “I need someone to tell me if this is a parody or is that actually what he looks like,” there was a mixed reaction to the interview. “I am forced to ask us to stop platforming awful people for engagement,” said a different tweet. Ziwe did not win nearly as much as we lost as a group.

Another person defended the former late-night TV personality, writing, “Ziwe spent the interview questioning George Santos about his past of lying, cheating, and stealing. No amusing games or commercial breaks were present. Consider very carefully before criticizing a Black woman for doing something that white men and women have been doing for a long time.

Santos said that there is still a chance for him to run for office during the conversation. “I’ll be back…While they are all in their 50s, I am 35. I will live longer than they do. With great pleasure, he growled at every single one of them. “Stop inviting me to your gig,” he said, grinning, in response to Ziwe’s question about how to get him to “go away.” “However, you can’t make people want the content,” he said.

Santos was charged with conspiracy to conduct crimes against the United States, wire fraud, making materially false claims to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), aggravated identity theft, fabricating data filed to impede the FEC, and access device fraud in October.

Multiple charges of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, theft of public funds, and making materially false representations to the US House of Representatives were all brought against him in a separate indictment.
