Yung Miami is speaking out and sharing her side of the story. Over a year after her split from Sean “Diddy” Combs, the City Girls rapper is finally addressing the numerous sexual abuse allegations that have surfaced against him. Many wondered why she remained silent for so long, but now she’s explaining her reasons.
In the August 8 episode of her REVOLT series Caresha Please, Miami (whose real name is Caresha Brownlee) candidly shared her perspective. “I can’t comment on something that wasn’t part of my experience,” she explained.
“I can’t speak on something I don’t know. These allegations, I wasn’t around for them. I don’t know that side of him, and it wasn’t my experience.”
In recent months, six women, including Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie, have filed lawsuits against the music mogul, accusing him of sexual assault and abuse. Diddy has denied these allegations. For Miami, who had an on-and-off relationship with Diddy from 2021 to 2023, the emergence of these allegations put her in a difficult position. She felt pressured to respond to events that occurred long before their relationship began.
“I met Diddy during a time when the world was celebrating him,” the 30-year-old rapper reflected, referencing his 2023 Global Icon Award at the MTV Video Music Awards and other accolades.
“People are now criticizing me, saying I was his biggest supporter, his cheerleader. But I was just celebrating him like everyone else, so why am I being attacked? Why am I being singled out?”
Miami, who has faced domestic violence in her past, made it clear that she was determined never to be in that situation again. She is a mother to two children—her 11-year-old son Jai, whom she shares with ex Jai Wiggins, and her 5-year-old daughter Summer, whom she shares with rapper Southside. Despite not experiencing any abuse from Diddy, she felt it was best to distance herself from him after the allegations surfaced.
“When all this came out, I knew I needed to step back and focus on what really matters,” she said. “That meant focusing on me, my career, and my family. I had to let him deal with these issues on his own because I couldn’t afford to be dragged into that mess.”
Although the situation has been challenging for Miami, she acknowledged that her relationship with Diddy was special. “He saw something in me beyond just music,” she said. “He brought out a different side of me, my gentle, feminine side. He made me realize that I’m more than just a musician; I’m an icon.”
Meanwhile, the allegations against Diddy continue to unfold. In May, CNN released a 2016 video showing the 54-year-old allegedly assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway. Diddy denied any wrongdoing when Cassie filed a lawsuit against him in November, which they settled the next day. The lawsuit included details of an incident matching the one shown in the video. After the video’s release, Diddy addressed the public for the first time.
“It’s hard to look back at the darkest moments in your life, but sometimes you have to,” Diddy said in a video shared on his Instagram in May. “I was in a bad place. I hit rock bottom. But I’m not making excuses. What I did in that video is indefensible. I take full responsibility.”
Further complicating matters, on March 25, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed search warrants at Diddy’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami, as confirmed by multiple law enforcement sources to News. The search was part of an ongoing investigation led by the Southern District of New York, with support from HSI Los Angeles and HSI Miami.
Adding to the legal woes, according to a Miami-Dade arrest affidavit obtained by NBC News, an associate of Diddy, identified as Paul, was arrested for allegedly possessing suspected cocaine and marijuana candy. Paul was released on March 26 after posting bond. His attorney, Brian Bieber, stated that the case would be handled in court, not in the media.
Yung Miami’s story adds another layer to the complex situation surrounding Diddy, highlighting the personal challenges she faced as someone who once shared a close relationship with him.
