Deamonte, Yak Gotti better known in the hip-hop world as Yak Gotti has officially been released from Fulton County Jail following a plea agreement in a separate case unrelated to the lengthy YSL RICO trial.

Months after being acquitted of all charges tied to the high profile RICO case involving the alleged “Young Slime Life” gang, Yak Gotti resolved his final legal hurdle by pleading guilty to aggravated battery. The incident occurred while he was already behind bars. According to his attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, all remaining charges have either been dismissed or will not be pursued by prosecutors.

On Wednesday evening, Yak Gotti walked out of jail a free man, processed out with time served already counted toward his sentence. He was officially sentenced to 12 years, with nine months to be served in jail and the rest on probation. If he stays out of trouble, the probation could end after five years.

Standing outside Fulton County Jail, Yak Gotti reflected on his release.

“I’m reborn,” he said. “These last three years have been heavy… but I’m grateful for the love and support from my family, my friends, and everyone who stood by me.”

He added, “This is a second chance at life, and I won’t let down the people who believed in me. It’s time to move forward.”

Yak Gotti’s legal battles began in 2022 when he was named in a sweeping indictment that accused multiple Atlanta based rappers and associates of crimes under Georgia’s RICO Act. The charges included gang activity murder and weapons violations. Prosecutors controversially used rap lyrics as part of their casea tactic defense lawyers strongly criticized as unconstitutional.

Despite facing serious accusations, Kendrick was acquitted of all charges in December 2024, including RICO conspiracy and the high profile murder of Donovan Thomas. With this final case behind him, his legal team says he’s ready to turn the page and start fresh.
