Whoopi Goldberg updated fans on her condition after missing the season premiere of her talk program The View, revealing that she is under quarantine with an undisclosed guy after a positive COVID test.
The View host was conspicuously missing from Tuesday’s season 27 premiere, and Joy Behar revealed that the 67-year-old had, for what is thought to be the third time, acquired the coronavirus.
The Sister Act actress was “on the mend,” but Joy, 80, told her co-hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin that she may not return to the studio until the following week.
Whoopi, wearing a mask, uploaded a video of herself on Instagram and said that she had been “confined” to her room while still testing positive, prompting an outpouring of support from her admirers.
However, Whoopi clarified that she is not alone throughout the quarantine procedure and is accompanied by a male partner, even if she omitted to name him. She seemed displeased with being cooped up inside.
Whoopi, clad in a denim shirt and with her hair down, was seated at a computer in what seemed to be a bedroom. She addressed her 1.3 million fans, dispelling claims that she had been on a range of exotic vacations around the globe.
She pulled off her face mask and said, “See, it’s me!” after saying, “Hey, despite everything you’ve heard… and let me just make sure you all know it’s me.”
“I’m not at Burning Man, I’m not in Italy anymore, I’m not doing anything, and I’m not trying to rig the election.” My COVID is here. All I have is COVID.
‘And I’m wearing a mask because the guy who’s here with me doesn’t have COVID,’ Whoopi, who has been married and divorced three times, said in reference to the mysterious man who was staying in her house.
However, he cannot understand since he wears four masks and four sets of gloves. The problem is that it seems that I’m still testing positive.
Weeks after she came out with her silence over rumors about her sexual orientation, she mentioned having a male partner.
Whoopi continued by acknowledging that she had no idea when she would be able to return to the daytime talk show, but she did express delight at seeing her co-hosts this season using the “new desk.”
She said, “It might take a few days because I need to get a clear test before I can return, but I’m excited to see the beautiful new desk and all the beautiful women—you girls look great, and you know I can’t wait to get back and hang out.”
“But in the interim, I’m stuck in my room with my mask on!” Whoopi snickered.
I just wanted to say hello and let everyone know I’ll be there as soon as possible. I’m sending you all a lot of love and can’t wait to return to our favorite location, The View. So see you all soon, bye! I have never been sent to my room like this at this age.
“That’s kind of like a drunken mask,” Whoopi laughed as she raised the mask back over her face. Before concluding and saying, “Okay, everyone, see you soon!”
‘Get well soon, Whoop!’ was one of the many good wishes of Whoopi’s admirers in response to her post.
Someone another wrote: “Whoopi, be careful.” Again, I’m wishing you well. We’ll hold out for you. Third: “Funny even when you’re feeling under the weather.” We’ve said prayers for a quick recovery for you.
A fourth admirer wrote: “Whoopi, I hope you feel better.” Looking forward to seeing you on The View. “Please get better so we can hear you on the radio,” begged the fifth.
Naturally, Tuesday’s program went on, and Joy decided to talk about Whoopi’s absence at the show’s beginning.
As the live studio crowd cheered, Joy said, “As you can see, Whoopi is not here; she has COVID.” She then added, “Yes.” Hey, look, look, it’s back.
‘But she’s on the mend, on the tail end,’ Joy continued. I apologize to those who were anticipating her visit.
At the start of Wednesday’s episode, the redhead made another reference to Whoopi and said that this is the “third time” she had contracted the illness.
Whoopi is still suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Yes, I think this is her third encounter with it, but people write things like, “If she received the vaccination, why does she still get it?”
Obviously offended by the remark, Joy said, “Because she’s not dead!” Her fever has very slightly increased. If you acquire the sickness and don’t get it, you might die!
After that, Whoopi’s Instagram video was aired to those watching at home.
Whoopi had been very silent on social media over the four-week summer vacation before uploading the video, with her most recent post being from July 27.
The Sister Act actress was conspicuously missing from a gathering celebrating the launch of her newest endeavor at the end of August.
Amara Skye Dean, Mason Dean, and Jerzey Dean, the children of Whoopi’s daughter Alex Martin, attended the Bella Flora Celebrity Golf Tournament in Laguna Beach, California, on Monday, August 28, although Whoopi was not in sight.
Her family was there to support her on the cover of Cannabis Cactus magazine, a media partner of the occasion.
Whoopi may have been missing because she had tested positive for COVID-19, but this is unknown.
Whoopi recently acknowledged that she is spending some time alone with a male friend after her admission that she wished she had never been married and joked about her “boring and expensive” divorces.
The View presenter has gone through three divorces; her last marriage to union leader Lyle Trachtenberg ended in divorce in 1995.
The Ghost actress revealed in a season-ending episode of The View that her third marriage was “getting expensive and boring” by the time it ended.
She hinted that this is one of the main reasons she has never said “I do” again, despite having high-profile relationships with actors Ted Danson and Timothy Dalton.
“It was never my destiny to get married,” she told her fellow panelists. And I know that, and I understood it then, too. But I persisted in doing what everyone else said I should do, and eventually, I realized, “This is getting expensive and boring.”
From 1973 through 1979, Whoopi married Alvin Martin, a drug counselor.
She wed cinematographer David Claessen in 1986 as her film career took off, but their marriage wasn’t meant to be, as they separated by 1988.
In 1994, Whoopi wed Lyle Trachtenberg, her third and last husband, although the couple divorced the following year.
She lived along with writer David Schein and actor Frank Langella after her third divorce.
The businessman Michael Visbal, the dentist Jeffrey Cohen, and the camera operator Edward Gold are some of her other ex-boyfriends.
