Whoopi Goldberg blasts fake Jeffrey Epstein list: ‘I have nothing to hide’. On a recent episode of “The View,” Goldberg passionately addressed the unfounded rumors that her name was included in Epstein’s list, vehemently denying any association with the disgraced financier.
Goldberg, known for her candid and no-nonsense approach, took the opportunity to call out conspiracy theorists and the websites that perpetuate false information. She pointed out the existence of a fake list that falsely implicated her and emphasized the need to set the record straight.
“Let me bring that up, the conspiracy theory folks,” she declared on the show. “I have to explain because there was a fake list, and I’m on it.”
In a lighthearted moment, co-host Sunny Hostin jokingly asked if Goldberg had been on Epstein’s infamous island, to which Goldberg humorously replied, “Apparently.” The absurdity of the claim was not lost on her, and she continued to express her disbelief, stating, “I don’t go anywhere! I don’t know what I’ve done to anybody, but apparently, there are a lot of these kinds of sites that are satire sites, but people don’t realize that they can be harmful.”
Goldberg’s frustration with the spread of misinformation extended beyond the Epstein conspiracy, as she addressed several other false rumors surrounding her. From alleged altercations at renowned restaurants to being kicked off television shows, Goldberg set the record straight on a myriad of unfounded claims. She emphasized the harm caused by such rumors, especially when disguised as satire, and called for increased caution in consuming and sharing information.
The actress delved into the broader issue of online misinformation, highlighting the prevalence of websites that operate under the guise of satire while disseminating misleading content. “So let me just get my part out,” she asserted. “I’ve never been kicked out of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant. I’ve never been kicked out of Guy Fieri’s restaurant. I didn’t get kicked off Bill Maher’s show. I didn’t get into a fight with Oprah [Winfrey] backstage here at ‘The View.’ It’s insane, it goes on and on and on.”
Interrupting Goldberg’s recounting of these outlandish rumors, co-host Joy Behar injected a touch of humor by asking, “But are you having George Clooney’s baby? That’s what I want to know.” Goldberg responded with a chuckle, maintaining her composure amid the absurdity of the situation.
Goldberg then turned the conversation toward the responsibility of those who publish such rumors. She warned that those who post false information should be cautious because once someone is cleared of baseless accusations, legal repercussions may follow. This stern admonition serves as a reminder that the consequences of spreading false information can extend beyond reputational damage.
The discussion on “The View” occurred in the context of the unsealing of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. As many as 19 documents from a lawsuit connected to the notorious pedophile were publicly released, revealing names like Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, and Michael Jackson. Notably, the list also included prominent figures such as Cate Blanchett, Naomi Campbell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Alan Dershowitz.
Goldberg, however, redirected the focus to herself, urging viewers not to believe anything unless she confirms it. She asserted, “Don’t believe unless I tell you about me. You’ll know if I am doing something. I’ll let you know! I have nothing to hide. I don’t care what people think. If I like doing it, I’m gonna let you know.”
She concluded with a humorous touch, reinforcing her straightforward approach by stating, “But if they told you Oprah was backstage and you didn’t see Oprah on the show… It’s so insane! And you know I don’t go anywhere! Unless I tell you I went somewhere. OK? Are we good?”
