Whoopi Goldberg is urging the public to stop placing blame for the recent catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles County. Speaking on Monday’s episode of The View, the Oscar-winning actress shared her perspective on the tragic events that have rocked Southern California. With the death toll rising and hundreds of thousands displaced, Goldberg made it clear that “the winds” were the primary cause of the destruction. “There was a fire catastrophe in California. It had to do with winds,” she told the studio audience, explaining that the strong winds helped to spread the flames across the region.

Goldberg, who has lived through the devastation of wildfires in California, expressed her frustration with those who are quick to point fingers. She believes that such disasters are often viewed as an opportunity to assign blame, rather than focus on the bigger picture.

“It doesn’t matter how much water you have if 900,000 buildings go up at the same time,” she noted, referring to the overwhelming scale of the disaster.

Goldberg’s personal connection to the tragedy is deep. She revealed that she had lost nearly every home she lived in during past wildfires. “Having lived in California, having lost every house save for one that we ever lived in, I take great offense at pointing fingers,” she shared. Her experience has shaped her views on how these disasters should be handled in the public discourse. For more check out YouTube channel.

In her conversation, Goldberg emphasized the natural causes of the fires, which were fueled by the powerful winds that swept through the region. She dismissed the notion that human-made factors or political decisions were directly responsible for the scale of the destruction. “It’s like us taking seriously that there are magic lasers in the sky that direct the weather,” she said. “That doesn’t work, that doesn’t happen.”

Goldberg’s remarks are particularly poignant given the scale of the fires. As of Monday, at least 24 people have died, and nearly 200,000 others have been displaced from their homes. The fires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, have ravaged over 39,000 acres. Goldberg’s own neighborhood, the Palisades, was severely affected. She described the scene as “insane,” with much of the area now destroyed.

Goldberg also expanded on her thoughts in an interview for The View: Behind the Table podcast. “There’s a lot happening. And please don’t blame the people for this. This is Mother Nature, and nobody was prepared for it,” she implored. Her plea for understanding comes at a time when political figures like Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Newsom are facing scrutiny for their handling of the crisis.

As the fire season continues to wreak havoc across the region, Goldberg’s message stands as a reminder of the unpredictable and destructive forces of nature. By refraining from blame and focusing on solutions, the public can contribute to the relief efforts and help those who have been impacted by the devastating wildfires.
