Lawrence James, 30, who has a Saturday evening show on the network has been named by Fox News as a temporary replacement for popular news show host Tucker Carlson.
James is considered the youngest black solo host of a prime TV news program. The 30-year-old hosts “Lawrence James Cross Country” on Saturday. He will now feature on Fox’s “Fox News Tonight” prime time show after the network fired Carlson.
James joined Fox News Media in 2018 and after working for a few years presenting segments on Sean Hannity’s show as a roving reporter traveling across the country, he got a promotion in May 2021 as an enterprise reporter.
According to TMZ, Tucker Carlson is being wooed by Fox’s rival news network Newsmax which has offered him autonomy and editorial freedom. Carlson is believed to have made $20 million annually at Fox News as its most popular primetime host.
Fox’s primetime ratings have slumped since Carlson’s departure. James will be stepping into some big shoes as rival news networks up the ante against the network.
