Van Jones claims Democrats are now planning ‘how’ to replace Biden with Harris

Van Jones claims Democrats are now planning

Van Jones claims Democrats are now planning . Van Jones, a former adviser to President Obama, has said that Democrats are trying to figure out how to replace President Biden as their candidate for the 2024 election.

Jones claims that while Democrats publicly support Biden, they are privately trying to find a way to replace him. He notes that the party is currently in a state of panic, as they try to find a way to get Biden to step down in a way that still shows him respect.

Jones made his comments on CNN, saying “Everybody comes on the air and says all this great stuff, but behind the scenes, it’s full-scale panic.”

He continued, “People are passing around legal memos, PDFs are flying back and forth on WhatsApp, trying to figure out, what are the options? How can you replace Biden? How do you get him to do it in a way where he feels respected, as he should be respected?”

Jones believes that if Biden does step down, Vice President Kamala Harris will be the nominee. He notes that the party is already discussing who would be her running mate, saying “Who should Kamala Harris’s vice president be? The conversations on air and the conversations off-air are completely different.”

Jones’ comments come after President Biden’s poor performance in a debate against former President Trump. The debate was widely panned, with many Democrats expressing concern about Biden’s ability to continue as the party’s nominee. A new national poll shows that Trump has opened up a six-point lead over Biden, with 54% of voters saying that Biden should drop out of the race.

Despite the calls for him to step down, Biden has insisted that he is staying in the race. In an interview with a Milwaukee radio show, he brushed off his poor performance in the debate, saying “I had a bad night… And the fact of the matter is that I screwed up. I made a mistake. That’s 90 minutes onstage – look at what I’ve done in three and a half years.”

However, Jones is not the only Democrat to call for Biden to step down. Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas and Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona have both publicly called on Biden to drop out of the race. Grijalva told The New York Times that Biden needs to “shoulder the responsibility for keeping that seat – and part of that responsibility is to get out of this race.”

The calls for Biden to step down have been met with resistance from some Democrats, who believe that he is still the best candidate to beat Trump. However, with the party in a state of panic and Biden’s poll numbers continuing to slide, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to hold on to the nomination.

Some Democrats are even calling for Michelle Obama to enter the race, with one Ipsos poll showing that she would be a strong contender against Trump. However, it is unclear whether she would be interested in running.

In the meantime, the Democratic party is left to wonder what to do next. With the convention just a month away, they need to find a way to replace Biden without alienating his supporters. It’s a delicate balancing act, but one that they must navigate if they hope to have any chance of beating Trump in November.

As Jones said, “We have a great candidate, we have a beautiful man, we have someone who loves this country. We have someone who has given his all – I mean, his all, to the last drop – for this country, but he may not be able to get across the finish line. And a mature party has to take that into account, and that is what’s happening.

The situation is a difficult one for the Democratic party, but they must find a way to move forward. Whether that means replacing Biden with Harris, or finding another candidate altogether, remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however – the party cannot continue on its current path and expect to win in November. Something needs to change, and it needs to change fast.
