Maxine Waters: Trump Win will be Threatening To Millions; Killings Will Happen

Maxine Waters: Trump Win will be Threatening To Millions; Killings Will Happen. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has raised significant concerns over the potential consequences of former President Donald Trump winning re-election, suggesting that it could lead to widespread violence and threaten the safety of millions. Waters made these remarks during a Sunday interview on MSNBC, where she discussed her apprehensions regarding the implications of a Trump re-election on public safety, particularly for people of color.

“I’m concerned about the safety of so many people in this country, particularly people of color. Donald Trump has said that if he does not win, it is going to be fraud, and because it is going to be fraud, there will be blood in the streets. He threatens about a civil war, and he threatens there’s going to be violence.”

Waters expressed alarm not only for her personal safety and that of other members of Congress but also for the general public. “I’m very concerned, not only about my safety and not only about the safety of members of Congress,” she stated. “I’m concerned about the safety of so many people in this country, particularly people of color. Donald Trump has said that if he does not win, it is going to be fraud, and because it is going to be fraud, there will be blood in the streets. He threatens about a civil war, and he threatens there’s going to be violence.”

Waters further suggested that Trump’s rhetoric could incite violence among his supporters, particularly those with racist tendencies. “I would say all of this talk is motivational with many of those who are racist, who are sitting at home listening to him, and they are taking him up on his threats even before the elections take place,” she continued. “It is about thousands, maybe millions of people being threatened and being at risk because of Donald Trump and his desire to seek revenge on anything and everybody.”

The congresswoman referenced the January 6 Capitol riot as a precedent for potential violence, indicating that similar or worse events could occur. “I think Donald Trump has to take responsibility for what he is saying about blood in the streets and violence if he is not elected to be the president of the United States of America,” she added.

Waters’ comments highlight the deep divisions and heightened tensions in the political landscape as the country approaches another potentially contentious election. The January 6 incident has become a focal point for discussions about political violence, with many, including Waters, drawing direct lines between Trump’s rhetoric and the actions of his supporters on that day. The congresswoman’s warning reflects fears that such violence could escalate further if Trump were to win re-election.

Waters’ concerns are not isolated. Many political analysts and lawmakers have voiced similar fears about the potential for increased violence in the event of a Trump re-election. These fears are compounded by the current polarized political environment, where misinformation and inflammatory statements can quickly incite unrest.
