Trump Orders Defunding of K-12 Schools Promoting ‘Radical’ Gender and Race Ideologies

President Donald Trump has taken a strong stance against what he calls “radical indoctrination” in K-12 schools. On Wednesday, he signed an executive order blocking federal funds for schools that teach Critical Race Theory (CRT) or gender ideology.

Trump, 78, stated that American schools should focus on rigorous education and patriotism. He claimed that, in recent years, schools have introduced “anti-American ideologies” while preventing parents from having oversight. According to him, students are being forced to adopt ideas about race and gender without critical thinking.

“In many cases, innocent children are compelled to adopt identities as either victims or oppressors solely based on their skin color and other immutable characteristics,” Trump wrote in the order.

He added that schools promoting gender ideology encourage students to question their identity and family values.

The order calls for immediate action. Trump directed his Cabinet to develop an “Ending Indoctrination Strategy” within 90 days. The plan will include removing federal contracts and grants that support CRT and transgender-related education. Additionally, schools found violating parental rights in gender-related issues could face legal consequences.

Trump also instructed the attorney general to work with state and local authorities to file lawsuits against school officials who support gender transitions for minors. He argued that such actions violate federal laws and parental rights.

This move mirrors efforts in Republican-led states like Florida and Virginia, where CRT and gender discussions have been restricted in schools. Critics argue that these measures limit educational freedom and ignore the realities of systemic issues in the U.S. However, Trump and his supporters believe they are protecting children from divisive ideologies.

The debate over CRT and gender education remains a hot topic in American politics. Some see Trump’s order as necessary to preserve traditional values, while others view it as an attack on inclusive education. With the 2026 elections approaching, education policies will likely remain a key issue for voters.
