A Texas man who allegedly threatened to kill Democratic U.S. Rep Maxine Waters last year was indicted by a California grand jury on Friday.
Brian Michael Gaherty, 60, allegedly, left a voice note threatening Waters last year. The note allegedly said he would cut his throat.
A statement released by U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles said that the accused was indicted on eight counts. As per details, the threats were made in four voice notes sent between September and November, last year.
An affidavit filed in court by the U.S Capital Police said that Gaherty also made racial comments in the voice notes sent to Waters and also sent threatening messages to other congresswomen of color. The documents did not name the lawmakers but said one of them was a woman of color of Latin American origin.
Gaherty has been indicted on four counts of ‘making threats in interstate communications and four courts of threatening a United States official,’ the NBC quote the Attorney General’s office as saying.
