Rapper T.I. was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport due to mistaken identity.
The famous rapper and actor T.I. was mistakenly arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Sunday night, August 4. TMZ reported that cops mistaken him for Baltimore, Maryland, stalking suspect Clifford Harris, who was wanted for stalking and firearms violence against a lady.
T.I. was brought from the airport to Clayton County Jail, an hour away, due to the mix-up. Arrest automatically prompted extradition hearing due to out-of-state warrant.
Good thing T.I.’s attorney Steve Sadow called the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office right away. T.I. was released two hours after his arrest after a court overturned the extradition order. Despite being innocent, T.I.’s past history complicated the case.
“Our position is clear… We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court,” T.I. and Tiny stated.
Clifford Harris, as T.I., has had legal issues. After pleading guilty to buying machine guns from an undercover federal investigator, he received a one-year, one-day sentence in 2009. He received a far lower sentence than the maximum 10 years. He was arrested for drugs again a year later. Despite the charges being withdrawn, he served 11 months for probation violation.
The following years saw T.I. encounter legal issues. After allegedly fighting a gated community security guard in 2018, he was jailed. Two years later, he was charged with fraud in an ICO.
Recent civil cases against T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, include forced drugging, kidnapping, rape, and intimidation. The couple was sued earlier this year for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at a Los Angeles hotel in 2005.
T.I. and Tiny strongly denied these allegations to HipHopDX. “This plaintiff has threatened to sue for three years. We have strongly disputed these charges for three years. For three years, we’ve denied these outrageous demands for things we didn’t do. We’ve held steady for three years while this story’s allegations have changed.”
They added, “Our position is clear…” We are innocent of these false charges, will not be intimidated, and look forward to court.”
“Our viewpoint is clear… We are innocent of these phoney claims, will not be shaken, and look forward to court “T.I. and Tiny denied the allegations.
The airport event highlighted the complications and risks of mistaken identity, especially for popular celebrities like T.I. Though this instance was settled quickly, it demonstrates his continual scrutiny and legal challenges.
Despite these obstacles, T.I. remains a music and entertainment icon. He influences acting, entrepreneurship, and activism as well as music. Fans and supporters watch him navigate these legal challenges, hoping for a resolution that lets him focus on his career and personal life.
This encounter at the Atlanta airport is another chapter in T.I.’s complex and often tumultuous life, a guy whose contributions to music and culture are clear but who still struggles with his past misdeeds and legal fights.
