SZA To Join Kendrick Lamar as Special Guest for Super Bowl Halftime Show

The upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show just became even more electrifying! On Thursday, Apple Music made a thrilling announcement, revealing that SZA will join Kendrick Lamar for an unforgettable performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9. The reveal came through a fun and dynamic video featuring the two stars.

In the playful clip, Lamar is seen reflecting on the big moment while standing on the field, casually speaking on the phone. “What’s up with it. Everything’s smooth. I’m on the field right now… This feels a lot better than what people think, so that’s a must,” he shares.

Just as the moment unfolds, SZA surprises him by dousing him with a Gatorade splash, all set to the upbeat rhythm of “Hey Now” from GNX. The chemistry between Lamar and SZA is undeniable, signaling a performance fans won’t want to miss.

SZA’s addition to the Super Bowl Halftime Show makes perfect sense, especially considering her recent collaborations with Lamar. Since Lamar was first announced as the headliner, he dropped GNX, an unexpected album that features SZA on tracks like “Gloria” and “Luther.” The pair also collaborated on SZA’s SOS Deluxe album with the track “30 for 30.” Their musical history spans several years, including memorable collaborations on CTRL’s “Doves in the Wind,” Z’s “Babylon,” and the 2018 Black Panther soundtrack’s “All the Stars.”

Apple Music revealed Lamar as the headliner back in September, marking his highly anticipated return to the Super Bowl stage after his guest appearance during Dr. Dre’s 2022 performance. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date, and I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar expressed. Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation co-produces the show, lauded Lamar as a “once-in-a-generation artist” whose influence stretches far beyond music.

With SZA now officially on board, the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show promises to be an incredible spectacle, continuing the tradition of stunning performances from past headliners like Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Usher. Lamar and SZA’s electric collaboration will surely make this halftime show one for the history books.
