U.S. President Donald Trump has made headlines with his remarks about potential peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Trump confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be directly involved in the discussions, as efforts to end the two-year war gain momentum.

“I think he wants to stop fighting,” Trump said. “They have a big, powerful machine, you understand that? And they defeated Hitler and they defeated Napoleon. You know, he’s been fighting a long time…I think he would like to stop fighting.”

The conflict began in February 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, thousands have died, and millions have been displaced. Trump’s statements have drawn mixed reactions, with some seeing hope for a resolution and others questioning the feasibility of his approach.

As the world watches closely, the success of any potential peace talks will depend on both sides’ willingness to compromise. For now, Trump remains optimistic that peace is within reach  with Zelenskyy playing a significant role.
