Soulja Boy has recently criticized Drake following his feud with Kendrick Lamar, expressing his disappointment publicly.
On July 16, Soulja Boy took to social media platform X to voice his discontent with Drake, noting the lack of support from Drake’s collaborators during the dispute. “Swag Season July 28 never let a n-gga try me like I’m Drake,” Soulja wrote, adding, “You disappointed me. @Drake.” He further recited a memorable lyric from Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” and tagged Drake, saying, “Freaky ass n***a @Drake.” Despite the tension, both rappers had maintained good relations, even after Soulja Boy mocked Drake during a Breakfast Club interview.
Soulja Boy continued his criticism, stating, “Doing all them weak ass songs with them n-ggaz look where it got u none of them n-ggaz you collab with or took on tour had yo back @Drake.” This comes amid ongoing debates about Drake’s status in the rap community, especially after his perceived defeat in the feud with Kendrick Lamar.
This isn’t the first time Soulja Boy has made headlines for his opinions on Drake. In 2019, Soulja Boy had a viral moment during a Breakfast Club interview when he reacted dramatically to Charlamagne Tha God calling Drake the “biggest rapper in the world.” Soulja Boy’s response, “Drake?! That n-gga who got bodied by Pusha T? Drake?! Y’all n-gas better stop playing with me in here,” quickly became a meme.
Reflecting on that moment in a 2022 interview, Soulja Boy said, “I wasn’t expecting it at all. I just went up there, spoke, had a good time, talked to The Breakfast Club. When I got to the hotel, my phone was going crazy and the internet was going viral. I was like, ‘What happened? What did I say?’ And it was like, ‘You was like, Drake?’”
Despite these public exchanges, the two artists have seemed to maintain a cordial relationship over the years. However, Soulja Boy’s recent comments have reignited discussions about their interactions and raised questions about loyalty and alliances within the rap industry.
Drake has yet to respond publicly to Soulja’s tweets. Although it seems that Soulja Boy may not be too pleased with the “6 God,” another rapper has seemingly stepped up to support Drake. In recent footage, Lil Wayne, who signed Drake to his Young Money Entertainment Label in 2009, is seen performing their hit song “The Motto” at Resort World. At one point, the DJ mixes in the beat of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track directed at Drake, “Not Like Us.”
Instead of rapping the usual lyrics, Wayne appears to alter the words to “they don’t like us” while reportedly flaunting an OVO chain around his neck.
Despite these public exchanges, the two artists have seemed to maintain a fine relationship over the years. However, Soulja Boy’s recent comments have reignited discussions about their interactions and raised questions about loyalty and alliances within the rap industry.
Drake’s silence on the matter continues to fuel speculation, while fans and observers eagerly await his response. The dynamics within the rap community remain as intricate and volatile as ever, with alliances and rivalries constantly shifting.
