A$AP Rocky Has Pleaded Not Guilty To Claims Of Firing A Pistol At A Former Buddy. Rocky pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic pistol at a court hearing on Monday (08.01.24).
The hitmaker known as “Praise the Lord,” whose actual name is Rakim Mayers, is accused of firing a handgun at Terell Ephron, who is also known as A$AP Relli, inflicting minor injuries. However, Rocky pleaded not guilty to the charges.
It is required that a trial take place within forty-five days after the date of the next hearing, which is scheduled to take place on March 6th.
Joe Tacopina, Rocky’s defense attorney, said his client was “cool as a cucumber” before the next hearing, which occurred outside the re-arraignment.
“He is a powerful character, a powerful individual,” he reportedly added, as reported by Rolling Stone on their website.
The attorney also said that Rocky, who is in a relationship with pop singer Rihanna, who is 35 years old, and has two kids, RZA, who is 19 months old, and Riot, who is five months old, is eager to get the trial “over with” so that the celebrity can concentrate on “enjoying his family.”
After the alleged event on November 6th, 2021, a Los Angeles judge decided there was sufficient evidence for the rapper to face trial. This decision was made at a preliminary hearing that took place in November.
According to the statement made by Judge ML Villar of the Superior Court at the time, “the totality of the video and testimony” demonstrated that there was sufficient evidence for the rapper to be tried.
Outside the courtroom, Tacopina said: “I am certain that Rocky will be vindicated of all of this.”
Just a few days after he was officially charged with two counts of assault, Rocky entered a plea of not guilty the next month, in August 2022.
At the time, the District Attorney for Los Angeles County, George Gascon, said that “displacing a firearm in a public place is a serious offense that could have resulted in tragic consequences not only for the individual who was targeted but also for innocent bystanders who were visiting Hollywood.”
Following a comprehensive examination of the material presented in this case, my office concluded that including a special firearm charge was the appropriate course of action.
After flying at Los Angeles Airport on a private jet with the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker, Rocky was first detained in connection with the incident in April 2022. This occurred only a few weeks before she gave birth to her child. Because a bond of $550,000 was paid, he was freed.
