Ravens and Lamar Jackson Reach a Record-Breaking Deal Worth $260 Million

According to the NFL Network and ESPN, the Baltimore Ravens, and Lamar Jackson have agreed on a 5-year extension deal making Jackson the highest-paid player in NFL history. The deal was finalized just hours before the start of the NFL Draft.

A video statement by the 2019 MVP quarterback was released by the Baltimore Ravens on social media.

“You know, for the last few months, there’s been a lot of ‘he said, she said.’ A lot of nail-biting, a lot of head-scratching going on,” Jackson said in the video.

“But for the next five years, there’s a lot of flock going on,” Jackson said referring to the Ravens’ fanbase which is known as the flock.

The deal trumps the $ 255 million extension offered by the Philadelphia Eagles to their quarterback Jalen Hurts in April.

The 25-year-old star Jackson has had turbulent few months with the Ravens involving disagreement over the extension’s terms and conditions. It was reported that Jackson had even requested a trade in March. The beef has now been squashed and the negotiations which took over a year have finally reached a conclusion.

“Sometimes you just need time. These things develop,” general manager Eric DeCosta said. “Sometimes these things can happen in two weeks, and sometimes it takes two years.”
