Tech billionaire Elon Musk sparked fresh criticism and praise after sharing a viral video of anti-Trump protesters fumbling to explain why they called the former president a fascist. The footage was captured during a weekend protest in Washington, D.C., and has since ignited heated debate online.
One man held a sign saying, “The Fascist Trump Regime Must Go,” but when questioned by a cameraman about what made Trump a fascist, he stumbled. He mentioned Trump does whatever he wants and is a convicted felon but admitted that was all he knew. He then pulled out a paper and revealed someone near the gate gave him the sign.
Another protester said Trump tried to control the media and mentioned the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico. When asked how that connects to fascism, he could not explain further. Instead, he redirected the conversation and avoided answering directly.
In a second clip, a man held a sign that read, “End the Kastikokracy.” When asked what it meant, he reached into his bag and read from a printed sheet. Viewers pointed out the irony of protesters carrying signs they couldn’t explain.
“The problem is the puppetmasters, not the puppets, as the latter have no idea why they are even there,” Musk wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
He attached both videos to the post, calling out what he sees as performative activism.
The footage was filmed by political strategist Ted Goodman, who is now co-hosting a show with Rudy Giuliani. The clips have since been widely shared and discussed, raising broader questions about political engagement and protest authenticity in the digital age.
