Stand-up comedian and radio personality Rickey Smiley is mourning the loss of his eldest son.
The talk show host announced on Instagram over the weekend that his son Brandon passed away at the age of 32.
Brandon was following in the footsteps of his father. He was also a stand-up comedian and actor. He leaves behind a daughter named Storm, 3.
No cause of death has been shared at this time
“I just had bad news this morning. I’m on the way to the airport to get to Birmingham. I just want everybody to pray for me, pray for our family, My son, Brandon Smiley, has passed away this morning.”
Rickey said in a video.
Rickey is known for The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Fox syndicated TV show Dish Nation, and TV One sitcom, The Rickey Smiley Show.
His career in comedy and TV spans over two decades and in 2017 he received the Marconi Award for syndicated personality of the year.
Upon posting the news, Smiley shared additional photos and videos of Brandon, including one of him doing standup comedy and another where he poked fun at his father.
Upon hearing the news, a slew of Smiley’s celebrity friends and fellow comedians shared their condolences on social media.
