Plies has officially withdrawn his copyright infringement lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy.

The rapper initially filed the lawsuit on Monday, alleging that the song “Wanna Be” by GloRilla contained an unauthorized sample of his 2008 track “Me and My Goons.”

In a surprising turn of events, Plies voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit “without prejudice” on Friday, meaning he reserves the right to refile the case in the future. However, it remains unclear whether he reached a private settlement with the involved artists or if he simply decided to drop the legal battle for other reasons.

The lawsuit, which was originally filed in a California federal court in November 2024, accused Soulja Boy of first using an unauthorized sample of “Me & My Goons” in his 2010 hit “Pretty Boy Swag.” Despite the alleged infringement, Plies never took legal action against Soulja Boy at the time. However, when “Pretty Boy Swag” was later incorporated into “Wanna Be,” Soulja Boy received a songwriting credit while Plies did not. For more updates check our Youtube channel.

Plies’ legal complaint pointed out that “Pretty Boy Swag” has amassed over 60 million views on YouTube and that the defendants had failed to acknowledge his original work. “After being made aware of the infringement through communications from Plaintiffs’ legal representatives, the Defendants have failed to take corrective actions, including offering compensation, credit, or otherwise resolving the matter,” the lawsuit initially stated.

The Florida rapper was seeking a jury trial, along with damages and a share of the profits from the song’s success. Although federal court records indicate that the case was officially closed on March 13, Plies still has the option to pursue legal action again in the future.

For now, the legal dispute appears to have ended, but whether Plies will revisit the case remains to be seen.
