Pat Colbert Actress Who Played Dora Mae

Actress Pat Colbert, known for her role in Dallas and Leonard Part 6, has died at the age of 77.

According to Colbert’s sister, Tami, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, Colbert had suffered a series of health problems over the past decade, including three strokes, and died on June 23 at her Compton home.  Colbert had a career that spanned decades, captivating audiences with her on-screen talent and charisma.

She began her television career by debuting as a model in Eischiled, followed by a prominent role in Flamingo Road, which aired from 1980 to 1981. The actress appeared in the pilot episode and remained a recurring character throughout the first season.

According to her IMDB profile, Colbert was born in Los Angeles on January 16, 1947. She worked as a model and fashion consultant for department store campaigns before turning her attention to Hollywood.  She made her first television appearance as a model in Achilled (1979) before landing a supporting role in “Flamingo Road, which aired from 1980 to 1981.

Colbert appeared in the pilot episode and recurred in the first season. Since then, she has appeared in severalTV series, including Capitol, Benson, A Gun for Every Occasion, Under the California Sun, A California Funeral, Sisters, and True Colors.  “Dallas” appeared in 67 episodes of the long-running series, which aired from 1983 to 1991, and ultimately became one of her best-known projects.  Colbert played the role of host Dora Mae at the Oil Barons’ Club, beginning in the sixth season of “Dallas.

The private club appeared occasionally on the show as a venue where the main characters, the Ewing family and their business partners, frequently held events and conducted business.  Colbert’s role in the series was a supporting one, but Hill Place blogger Sean Chang told THR that she “played the part with grace and intelligence.”

She also appeared in several films, including as a nurse on S.O.B. and Hysterical, and had a key role as Allison Parker in the comedy Leonard Part 6. She appeared in the two-hour pilot episode and appeared intermittently throughout the first season, but her character was canceled in the second season after the network came under pressure from her pastor.

Donald Wildmon, who, as president of the Television Improvement Coalition, called Flamingo Road “the worst television show,” transformed the brothel into a respectable supper club. But Lorimer gave Colbert another job, and from 1983 to 1991, she appeared in 67 episodes of Dallas, starting with an uncredited role in season six, as a hostess at the Oil Barons Club,  a high-rise restaurant that was a popular meeting place for the Ewing family and their friends. (The venue was inspired by the real Dallas Oil Club, which was only accessible to members.)

“Dora Mae, the only African-American character in the series, had no story arc because Dallas never tried to be more than the story of the Ewing family. But she played the role with grace and intelligence,” Sean Chang of Film and Film: TV blog Hill Place told THR. “The main characters and the series itself treated them with respect, not condescension.”

Dallas had a lot of recurring supporting characters that helped create a sense of unity for a series set in a big city. Drama was part of the fabric of the series.” Sandra Patricia Colbert was born in Los Angeles in January. 16 ,1947. Her father, Leroy, was a construction worker and built the house the family lived in. Her mother, Eula, was a housewife and worked in nursing.
