Nike Removes Ja Morant’s “Ja 1” Shoes From its Sneaker App

Nike has removed the Memphis Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant’s signature “Ja 1” shoe from its app after he was suspended for the second time for flashing a gun on an Instagram Live video. The shoe has been removed from both the Finish Line and Nike apps.

The Ja 1s, a new line of shoes, was set to release on May 25.

Earlier this week Morant was suspended by his team, the second such suspension for gun-related flexing on social media. Previously he was suspended for 8 games after a video of him surface holding a gun at a nightclub in Colorado.

The 23-year-old released a statement on Wednesday apologizing for his actions. However, according to some internet sleuths the statement may have been generated by Artificial Intelligence through ChatGPT.

“My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself,” the statement said.

The 23-year-old who averages 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game is considered one of the best rising prospects in the NBA.
