A little over a month before Sean “Diddy” Combs’ highly anticipated criminal trial the hip-hop mogul is facing a new legal battle as he is accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit.

An anonymous man from Southern California identified as John Doe, has filed a lawsuit in New York County Supreme Court alleging that Combs sexually assaulted him on the set of a high-profile commercial in either 2022 or 2023. According to the complaint, Doe who describes himself as a “photographer production assistant,” claims he engaged in a conversation with Combs during filming. Doe alleges that Combs later invited him into his trailer, where he was pressured to perform oral sex under the promise of career advancement. According to the lawsuit, Combs told him,

“I’ll make your career take off.” Doe has described the incident as “blatant sexual quid-pro-quo.”

“Combs framed this meeting as an opportunity for Doe to advance his career. Doe although hesitant, could not turn down what appeared to be a career-defining moment few ever receive,” the lawsuit states. “The implication was clear, also, that if (Doe) did not perform oral sex on Combs to his satisfaction, his career would be over.”

Combs’ legal team has strongly denied the allegations. In a statement to USA TODAY, they asserted, “No matter how many lawsuits are filed—especially by individuals who refuse to put their own names behind their claims it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone man or woman, adult or minor.”

As Combs faces mounting sexual assault allegations dating back to the 1990s, his legal troubles continue to escalate. In addition to the civil cases, Combs remains in jail after being denied bond multiple times. He is scheduled to stand trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges on May 5, further intensifying the scrutiny surrounding his past conduct.
