NAACP Awards: All You Need to Know About the Winners

Hosted by Queen Latifah, the 54th NAACP Image Awards concluded at the Pasadena Civic Auditoriumon Saturday night. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Angela Bassett and Will Smith were amongst the biggest winners.

Bassett won three awards in total including the Entertainer of the Year award. Wakanda Forever bagged the Outstanding Motion Picture of Year award and Will Smith won the best Actor in a Motion Picture award for the slavery epic “Emancipation.” The awards honoured Serena Williams who won the Jackie Robinson Sports Award. Brittney Griner made a special appearance. “I want to thank everyone. Let’s fight to being home every American detained oversees,” Griner said in her speech.

NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of multicultural artists, entertainers, heroes and change-makers. Awards are given out in more than 80 categories.
