When Backgrid asked the NBA legend, 60, what he thought of Marcus, 32, dating the Real Housewives of Miami actress, 48, he just laughed. When the photographer inquired if he liked the connection, Michael said, “No.”
Marcus previously told Us Weekly that his family was warming up to the notion of his starring on RHOM alongside Larsa. “They’re warming up to it,” he stated last month. “As a family, we’re very private, but they know I’m an adult.” They have faith in my ability to navigate that universe. But it’s definitely been a learning curve for sure.”
Meanwhile, Larsa said earlier this year that she and her partner had been spending time with Michael and his ex-wife, Marcus’ mother, Juanita Vanoy. “I’ve recently been hanging out with them, but I don’t really want to talk about them,” she told Tamron Hall in February. “I feel like it’s not about, you know, my parents or his parents — they’re all happy; our whole family’s fine.”
Larsa was previously married to Scottie Pippen, Michael’s former Chicago Bulls colleague. The two men guided the club to six NBA titles in the 1990s, but Scottie, 57, recently stated that Michael was a “horrible” player. Scottie also mentioned in his 2021 biography, Unguarded, that he was dissatisfied with the way the squad was depicted in the 2020 docuseries The Last Dance.
“They glorified Michael Jordan while not giving nearly enough praise to me and my proud teammates,” Scottie wrote. “Michael bore a large share of the blame.” The producers had given him complete editing authority over the finished output. The documentary could not have been released in any other way. He was both the primary actor and the director.”
Scottie and Larsa divorced after more than 20 years of marriage in 2018. She exclusively told Us last month that she and her ex don’t discuss her relationship with Marcus, instead concentrating on their children. Scotty Jr., 22, Preston, 21, and Justin, 18, are the previous couple’s boys, while Sophia, 14, is their daughter.
“[My children] adore Marcus. “I feel like we talk about the same things, like, they love him,” Larsa told Us in June. “So, when I’m talking about basketball with my older son Scotty, Marcus is listening in.” Marcus owns a clothes shop – he has a boutique — so he chimes in when I’m talking to my kid Preston about fashion. It’s really a natural match for our family.”
Marcus, on the other hand, claims he is more of a “fly on the wall” with Larsa’s children. “They have their conversations, and wherever I can chime in that makes sense — I try to do so,” he told Us. “But I think we have a lot in common because we’re so close in age.” “I’m just glad they’ve accepted me so well.”
