Meek Mill has weighed in on the growing buzz surrounding Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” The Philadelphia rapper, who famously feuded with Drake in 2015, was asked for his opinion by battle rapper Arsonal Da Rebel on social media.
Instead of addressing the lawsuit directly, Meek reflected on his own experiences with the music industry.
“The label told me not to drop anything,” he shared, referring to the time after his clash with Drake.
Defying their advice, he released his DC4 mixtape, which sold 90,000 copies in its first week. “I couldn’t make playlists either, and it had me losing confidence, but I knew 80% was campaign.”
Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar has escalated into legal territory, with the rapper suing UMG for defamation, claiming Kendrick’s diss track damaged his reputation. The situation has drawn parallels to Drake’s past beefs, including the infamous clash with Meek Mill, which produced the viral hit “Back to Back.”
Meek also opened up about his determination to succeed independently. “Once I started owning companies, I wanted to be in conversations with high-level decision-makers,” he said. “I’ve learned from my losses, and 2025 is my year to make $100 million off rap and break out of the system.”
The rapper’s comments highlight the challenges artists face in navigating the music industry, particularly when dealing with powerful record labels. Fans have noted the irony of Drake, often celebrated for his lyrical prowess, turning a rap feud into a legal dispute.
Meek’s reflections have reignited interest in his rivalry with Drake while also shedding light on broader issues within the music industry. As one fan put it, “The dynamics of rap battles are changing, and legal actions like this could redefine the culture.”
One thing remains clear: Meek Mill is focused on his own path forward, leaving past feuds behind. “I’m a champ,” he concluded. “I’ve learned from my losses and moved on.”
