Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has sparked outrage after offering a controversial excuse for her absence during the city’s wildfire crisis. While parts of LA were burning, the mayor was thousands of miles away in Ghana, attending to a trip related to the Biden administration’s agenda. In an interview with Fox 11, Bass claimed that she wasn’t aware of the wildfire warnings, stating,

“We need to look at everything about the preparation and all of that for the fires… I think when we evaluate that, we will find that although there were warnings, that I frankly wasn’t aware of.”

Her defense has left many questioning her preparedness and commitment to her city’s safety. Critics argue that given the predictable nature of wildfires in California, she should have been aware of the dangers.
