Rep. Maxine Waters Claims Trump Supporters Are 'Training in the Hills' for Potential Election Assault

Rep. Maxine Waters Claims Trump Supporters Are ‘Training in the Hills’ for Potential Election Assault.  Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has issued a warning about potential violence from right-wing organizations connected to former President Donald Trump if President Biden wins the election in November.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart,” Waters stated that Trump’s supporters are “training up in the hills somewhere” and targeting specific communities for attack.

Waters called on the Justice Department and President Biden to take action to protect the country from potential violence.

“I’ll tell you what I’m going to do. I’m going to ask the Justice Department, and I am going to ask the president to tell us what they are going to do to protect this country against violence if [Biden] loses,” she said.

Waters also emphasized the danger Trump poses to the United States, citing his refusal to accept the results of the last presidential election and his suggestions of violence and bloodshed if he loses again. “We should take him seriously. This man does not believe in the Constitution. He wants to be a dictator. This is a dangerous human being. We have to know what our country is going to do to protect us from him,” she said.

However, Waters’ warnings about right-wing violence have been met with criticism, given her own history of inciting confrontations. In 2018, she famously called on her supporters to publicly confront and “absolutely harass” members of Trump’s cabinet, and in 2021, she urged protesters to “get more confrontational” if former police officer Derek Chauvin was not convicted of murdering George Floyd.

Waters’ office has not commented on her recent statements, but her warnings about right-wing violence have sparked a national conversation about the potential for political violence in the lead-up to the November election. As the political climate continues to intensify, it remains to be seen how Waters’ words will be received and what actions will be taken to address the potential for violence.

The possibility of political violence is a concerning issue, especially given the heightened tensions and divisions in the country. Trump’s rhetoric and actions have been widely criticized for inciting violence and hatred, and his supporters have been involved in several violent incidents in recent years.

In addition, the rise of right-wing extremism and white supremacy has led to a surge in hate crimes and violent attacks on minority communities. The Department of Homeland Security has warned about the growing threat of domestic terrorism, and the FBI has identified white supremacy as a major threat to national security.

In this context, Waters’ warnings about right-wing violence must be taken seriously. While her own history of inciting confrontations is problematic, her concerns about the potential for violence from Trump’s supporters are not unfounded. The country must take concrete steps to address the growing threat of political violence and ensure that all citizens can exercise their rights without fear of harm.
