Martin Luther King Jr.’s Daughter Criticizes Sexyy Red Over AI Generated Photo

Sexyy Red, a rapper known for her provocative posts, found herself at the center of controversy after sharing a fake AI generated image on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The image depicted the rapper holding hands with the late civil rights leader, an act that was meant as a tribute but sparked outrage instead.

After receiving backlash, Bernice King, the daughter of Dr. King, voiced her strong disapproval on X (formerly Twitter).

She called the post “intentionally dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful” to both her family and her father’s legacy.

Dr. King, she reminded the rapper, was assassinated for fighting for civil rights, and it was not appropriate to use his image in this way.Sexyy Red apologized, acknowledging that she never intended to disrespect Dr. King’s family.

She explained on X that she had reposted something she thought was innocent, writing, “You ain’t wrong, never meant to disrespect your family my apologies.” Despite her apology, the damage had been done, and her actions triggered a wider conversation about the ethical use of AI-generated content and the portrayal of historical figures.

In addition to the controversial image with Dr. King, Sexyy Red also posted another fake image of herself holding a stack of cash while allegedly attending the 1963 March on Washington. This march was famously where Dr. King delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. In the photo, Sexyy Red’s caption read, “Happy MLK Day!!” while the image also featured rapper Chief Keef and a sign with the phrase “G.B.E. F TRUMP,” referring to her previous support for the controversial former president.

In a separate incident, Sexyy Red also made headlines in 2023 for her statements about Donald Trump and her voting preferences, which have contributed to her polarizing public persona.
