In the newly released documentary series The Fall of Diddy, journalist Danyel Smith shares her account of a troubling interaction with Sean “Diddy” Combs. Premiering on Investigation Discovery, the series delves into allegations and controversies surrounding the music mogul over the years.

Combs, currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, awaits trial after pleading not guilty to the charges against him. He has denied all accusations. In one episode, Smith, a former editor-in-chief of VIBE magazine, recounts her experience with Combs in September 1997, when he was slated to appear on the magazine’s cover.

According to Smith, after the photoshoot, Combs requested to preview the magazine covers before publication.

“It was against policy to share covers prior to release,” she explained. When she declined his request, Smith alleged that Combs made a shocking threat, telling her, “I would see you dead in the trunk if you don’t show it to me.”

Disturbed, Smith demanded he retract his statement, but Combs refused. She contacted her attorney, who promptly intervened. “My lawyer called him and demanded a faxed apology or law enforcement would be involved,” she said. Within two hours, Smith received the written apology. For more updates check our Youtube channel.

However, the ordeal didn’t end there. Smith claimed that Combs sent two intimidating men to her office in search of the cover photos. Fearing for her safety, she was discreetly moved from office to office until the situation deescalated. “For my safety and to protect the magazine pages, I was eventually put in a cab and sent home,” she revealed.

Combs’ legal team dismissed the documentary as a biased attempt to profit from his ongoing legal battles. “This production promotes a one-sided narrative, relying on unverified claims and ignoring key facts,” his attorneys stated. They expressed confidence that the judicial process will reveal the truth, asserting that the accusations against Combs are entirely fabricated.
