Lizzo recently addressed Yung Miami’s comments about her weight during a Twitch livestream, seeking clarification on remarks made during a podcast discussion.
Last week Yung Miami a member of the City Girls appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast where host Shannon Sharpe brought up the societal pressure women face regarding their appearance. When asked about the prevalence of cosmetic surgery among women Yung Miami referenced Lizzo as an example of an artist who faces public scrutiny regardless of her size.
“Everybody was like ‘Oh my God, she’s so fat.’ She looks so good now. Now it’s like ‘Oh my God, eww,’” Yung Miami explained emphasizing the contradictory nature of public opinion. “Like, pick a side. What do you want?”
On March 22, Lizzo decided to address the comment directly during a Twitch stream calling Yung Miami for clarification. The four time Grammy winner asked,
“What is the ‘eww?’ I have to know.” She added, “Actually, I thought you were saying I got too little.”
Yung Miami quickly clarified that her statement was not a personal critique but rather an observation of how people always have something negative to say, no matter what. “You can never win” she explained. “It’s ‘damned if you do damned if you don’t.That’s kinda what I was trying to say.”
She elaborated, noting that while most people praise Lizzo’s transformation, there’s always a small percentage of critics who claim she looked better before. “That’s what I’m saying. It’s just damned if you do damned if you don’t. But you’re doing it for yourself, not these people.”
Despite ongoing public scrutiny, Lizzo continues to focus on her personal well being, using her platform to inspire self-love and confidence. Her response to Yung Miami’s comments reflects her commitment to embracing her journey, regardless of external opinions.
