The “A Milli” rapper, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., said that his memory is so bad that he is unable to differentiate between any of his Grammy award-winning albums or singles.
“I’m going to be so honest with you: I don’t know Tha Carter III, Tha Carter II, Tha Carter One from Tha Carter IV,” Wayne, 40, told media.
“And that’s just my God’s honest truth. You could lie, you could ask me [about] such and such song, I wouldn’t even know what we talking about.”
“And I also always think of it as the curse part of the gift and the curse. I believe that [God] blessed me with this great spirit, but did not want to give [me] a great reminder to remember this great shit,”
he admitted.
Lil Wayne is a prolific rapper who has released 285 songs in his 24-year career. He has released 13 studio albums, one collaboration, three compilations and 29 mixtapes
The outlet asked the forgetful rapper how he differentiated between all of his various projects with his bad memory.
The Lollipop singer said the effects and tone of the songs, whether it is a Tha Carter song or a DJ Drama song or whatever make them stand out for him.
And he doesn’t have a favorite song of his, either.
“My favorite song is the last one I record. And then I will forget it after the next one I record,” he said.
But despite his memory, the Sucker for Pain rapper is still focused on being the best rapper on the planet.
He said he’s pursuing that goal with: “Every single action, every single word, every single approach. The reason why I’m still only listening and working on my own sh-t is because I’m in it.”
Lil Wayne observed that his busy and stressful work schedule may be a reason for his memory troubles. He is, however, still aware of his talent and is thankful for his creativity. In the interview, Lil Wayne also mentioned his battle with epilepsy over the years.
The singer had to cancel a show in Las Vegas in 2017 when he had multiple seizures and was found unconscious in his hotel room in Chicago. Earlier in 2013, he had had many seizures and was hospitalized.
Lil Wayne said that he is still motivated to work hard to inspire young rappers men or women and show people why he has been consistently successful.
