Lil Uzi Vert Settles ‘Strawberry Peels’ Lawsuit.

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert has settled a lawsuit filed against his label, Atlantic Records, by Sun City Publishing LLC for the song ‘Strawberry Peel,’ HipHopDx has reported.

The lawsuit, filed in January, sought $1 million in damages over alleged uncleared sample on his song “Strawberry Peels.”

Sun City Publishing owns the rights to the Blackout 1995 hit “Dim Da Lights” which was allegedly sampled without permission in the said song.

Both the publishing houses reportedly reached an agreement on Friday, HipHopDx has confirmed.

According to the order of the court, both parties “have reached an agreement in principle for the resolution of this action, in its entirety, and that they anticipate filing within thirty days their Stipulation to the dismissal of this action.”

The case was set to be moved to a federal court. The out-of-court settlement has thus helped Atlantic Publishing avoid that outcome.

“Plaintiff Sun City Publishing, LLC, and defendants Atlantic Recording Corporation, erroneously sued as Atlantic Records LLC and Generation Now, LLC, submit this Joint Notice to advise the Court that they have reached an agreement in principle for the resolution of this action, in its entirety, and that they anticipate filing within thirty days their Stipulation to the dismissal of this action,” lawyers for both sides stated before the court in a joint statement.
