As per a statement released by the publicist, Reddick “passed away suddenly…of natural causes.” Further details regarding the death are still awaited.
“Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time,” the statement says.
Reddick was a native of Baltimore. He played the famous character of a hometown police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in the super-hit drama series “The Wire” from 2002 to 2008. He was also famous for playing Charon in the famous “John Wick” movie franchise alongside Keanu Reeves.
Reddick started out playing small screen roles in the mid-1990s on series such as The Nanny and the New York Undercover. He got his break in big-screen movies like Great Expectations and The Siege.
Reddick is remembered by co-stars and colleagues. “Bosch” creator Michael Connelly tweeted, “More than being a key ingredient in the Bosch show, he was a wonderful person, friend, and collaborator. He took a character who was paper-thin in the books and made Irvin Irving.”
Reddick’s latest public engagements were as late as last week when he was promoting the 4th movie in the John Wick franchise series.
Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and two children, Yvonne and Christopher. A native of Baltimore, Lance’s father taught high school English and social studies, and his mother was a music instructor. He went to Quaker High School, graduated from the University of Rochester, and enrolled at the Eastman School of Music.
